Tallulah Darling,

I first met Nall when I was eighteen through his first wife, Theresa. I went to the University of Alabama in Birmingham and was a fan of Nall's from the very beginning. His first show was at the Brooks Gallery in Birmingham. Tallulah was the main piece of the show.

I was putting myself through school on an academic scholarship and didn't have any money to speak of at the time. But I did have a credit card and I think the maximum amount on it was $200. I had it just in case of an emergency or 'just in case'. That 'just in case' came at that show. Tallulah was for sale for $150. It was meant to be. Without hesitation, I pulled out my credit card and was thinking that I would be eating rice for the next two months, but it would be worth it.

Fast forward many years... Nall was visiting me and looking around my house. I kept Tallulah in my bedroom. Nall was in my bedroom and saw her and started crying. He told me that he had been looking for her for decades. 'Nall, don't you remember? I asked him. I bought her at the Brooks Gallery at your first show.' Nall didn't have any idea who bought her.

He wanted Tallulah back so badly that he offered to swap her with me his monumental piece, The Last Supper. That's how badly he wanted Tallulah. I turned him down. I explained that I'd had her since I was eighteen years old and I couldn't give her up. He finally said that he was glad that someone he loves has her. I thought he always knew.

In my opinion, Nall was probably one of the most iconic modern day artists--a genius. I really believe that he is one of the greatest artists of our time.
